Tour Highlights Include:
🔹 Old Mountpleasant Discover some of the oldest houses in the area, dating back to the late 18th century—older than those on Mountpleasant Square itself.
🔹 The Swan River Learn how this now-hidden river helped shape the landscape and topography of Ranelagh.
🔹 Ranelagh Multi-Denominational School Find out how the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) replaced the original 1893 ‘tin school’, which later served as a church.
🔹 Mountpleasant Square Admire one of Dublin’s most beautiful Georgian squares, developed between 1800 and 1834.
🔹 The Dolan Family Learn about Terence Dolan, the principal developer of Mountpleasant Square in the early 19th century.
🔹 Mountpleasant Tennis Club Discover how the central park of the square was transformed in the 1830s into private recreational space for local residents.
🔹 Ranelagh Gardens / Willbrook Explore the story of Willbrook, an early 18th-century estate that became the Dublin residence of the Bishops of Derry.
This walk is a unique opportunity to explore Ranelagh’s Georgian heritage and the evolution of its urban landscape.
We look forward to seeing you there!
