The Local Stories of 1916: An Invitation to Support Our Project

Ranelagh Arts is delighted to be bringing forward an exciting new project exploring the hidden history of the 1916 Rising in Ranelagh and Rathmines.

Through a short documentary, community-led historical walking tours and interactive and printed heritage maps, we aim to bring the stories of the revolutionary figures who lived, worked and gathered in our area to life.

The project brings together a fantastic team with a strong personal connection to the history. Local historian and grandniece of Joseph Mary Plunkett, Honor O'Brolchain, will share family stories and insights into the 1916 leaders. Our director and cameraman, Nikkia Kushch-Shevalov, is a Ukrainian refugee, while producer and writer Máiréad deBlaca is an amateur historian and local resident.

We are now looking for support to help make this project happen. We would love to hear from potential funders, sponsors, local historians, community organisations and anyone with stories, photographs or knowledge to share.

Whether through financial support, sharing expertise or helping spread the word, there are many ways to get involved.

We hope you will join Ranelagh Arts in bringing these important local stories to life.
